It's true that I took a pretty unequivocal position on the matter. I didn't see conclusive evidence medically, and it didn't make financial sense for the franchise. My job is to be skeptical. I feel like Vince Gilligan is constantly misdirecting me, on screen and in my personal life, even though we've never met. But this now-going-viral video of Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul reading the script for the first time is a bit incontrovertible. Indeed, there is a point in the script where it literally says that Walt lies "lifeless." So I was wrong. Or, was I? What is lifelessness? When, in his depravity, did Walt cease to be alive?
